Kirstie McTear, DVM

Dr. McTear earned her DVM from Tuskegee University. She also has a Master’s degree in animal science and went through field medicine training in Ecuador with World Vets. Her professional interests include reptilian medicine, small mammal medicine, avian medicine, and large/small exotic cat medicine.

Dr. McTear’s decision to become a veterinarian began when she was 8 years old—she had a pet mouse that became terminally ill and required special treatment. She enjoyed caring for her little pet and making him comfortable until he passed. Ever since then, Dr. McTear knew she wanted to spend the rest of her life helping animals. The gratitude she receives from her patients and clients is truly priceless and she wouldn’t exchange it for anything.

At home, Dr. McTear has a Toy Poodle named Indigo and a leopard gecko named Khalifa. Her hobbies include working out, hiking, kayaking, swimming, traveling, reading, snorkeling, and going to concerts.
