Improving Quality of Life with Cat and Dog Surgery in Henderson, NV

At Sunridge Animal Hospital, we offer surgery for cats and dogs for corrective and preventive purposes. Our veterinarians can perform a variety of soft tissue procedures, in addition to some orthopedic surgeries. Along with traditional surgery, our skilled surgeons can also offer endoscopy as a less-invasive alternative, if possible. Both procedures are very safe for our patients, as we go to great lengths to make sure every pet is healthy, stable, and closely monitored throughout.

Why Choose Endoscopy?

Endoscopy is a less invasive way to perform certain procedures that are traditionally done with a scalpel or laser. Instead of having to make an incision, we insert the endoscope, which consists of either a rigid or flexible tube with a camera and light source on the end, into the appropriate orifice (such as the nostril or esophagus) to see what’s going on in your pet and perform the necessary next steps. We can conduct various exploratory procedures in this way, along with biopsies and foreign body removals.

Some of the benefits of endoscopy include:

  • Requiring light sedation, as opposed to general anesthesia
  • Significantly less pain and discomfort for your pet
  • Minimal recovery time
  • No surgical incisions, and thus less risk of infection
  • No healing time, so your pet can return to their normal activities right away

How We Increase Safety for Cat and Dog Surgery

Your pet’s safety during surgery is just as much of a concern for us as it is for you. Here are some of the steps we take to reduce risks:

  • We evaluate your pet before administering anesthesia to make sure their organs are healthy and functioning normally.
  • To maintain hydration and blood pressure support during your pet’s surgery, we place an IV catheter for quick delivery of fluids and other medications that might be needed.
  • A skilled veterinary technician will be standing by to monitor all of your pet’s vital signs from the start of surgery all the way to the end.
  • Along with administering the appropriate pain medication, we can also perform a quick laser therapy treatment to reduce pain and swelling and increase healing.
